Juniper Jack, born as [redacted] was raised in Denver, Colorado. She got out of there as soon as she could to live a largely nomadic life, moving to new places 10 times in 12 years. Experiencing new challenges and developing her vast skillset is at the heart of her artistic and spiritual practice. She takes a deep pride in being a flexible and adaptable artist; her style varies widely depending on the project she is working on. She currently works as a tattoo artist, fiber sculptor and teacher in Olympia, WA.
Exploring her own spiritualism has continued to be the focal point of her artistic practice. Creating visual metaphors for spiritual concepts and expressing the magic at the heart of existence is the driving force behind her art.
Drawn to spirituality but raised in a conservative christian household Juniper attended Azusa Pacific University where she studied Theology and Studio Art. Instead of becoming a pastor as she intended she became a transgendered heathen. Being raised in a sheltered background she sought out many adverse experiences. She worked at a fish factory in Alaska where she worked 16 hours a day for 21 days straight. She studied abroad in Lithuania simply because it was a country she had never heard of, after that she traveled Europe alone by train for 3 months. She worked as a dance photographer in LA traveling every weekend to new shows. Before her tattoo apprenticeship in Olympia she moved to a tiny village in Minnesota to work as a Biodynamic Farmer while living on an 800 acre homestead.
Each of these periods in her life has changed the trajectory of her artistic practice in some way and left her with a desire to keep experiencing the world as deeply as possible.
